In a recent study published in Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, now suggests that eating apples may increase sexual pleasure in women.
A study of Italian women ages 18 to 43 who are all sexually active helped with this conclusion. Participants were separated into two groups, those who consistently eat apples and those who do not.
The researchers then found that the women who have higher apple consumption also have a higher rating on the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), a survey asking about everything from lubrication to orgasm.
So what’s the deal with apples? Well, researchers suggest this spike in sexual pleasure happens because apples contain polyphenols and antioxidants that can stimulate blood flow to the genitalia and vagina, thus helping with arousal.
Now this is a small sample size, but researches are saying that the results are “intriguing”.
An apple a day may do more than keep the doctor away.
