Age is just a number, right? Former president George H.W. Bush celebrated his 90th birthday by jumping out of a helicopter today. Although the 41st president is wheelchair bound now, that didn’t stop him from going skydiving just as he did on his 75th, 80th and 85th birthdays.
The tandem skydive took place near his summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine with his family waiting for him on the ground. His son, former president George W. Bush, and his great granddaughter, Mila Hager, were both in attendance to help him celebrate.
Weather cooperated long enough for Bush to take the jump around 11 a.m. He was accompanied by Mike Elliott, a former member of the U.S. Army Parachute Team and the president of All Veterans Group. Other jumpers are all retired members of the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights.
Despite some health concerns Bush has always tried to live life to the fullest. “Well, I'm sure I could have done a lot of things better, but it's been a fulfilling time in my life, and a lot of experiences including being president of the United States,'' he said. "Not too shabby. It was an interesting time, and I enjoyed it all, enjoyed life and all.”
