When you are a intern for K102 you get to take part in a lot of really fun events and one recent one I attended was the Polar Bear Plunge at Crooked Lake in Coon Rapids, MN. Not only is the Polar Bear Plunge a great charity that donates money to the Special Olympics, but its a fun and unique way of donating to your community. Although the day of this plunge was freezing, all of us from K102 were bundled from head to toe, attending the event was very worth it.
It was very exciting to see all the hundreds of people dressed in costumes, swimwear and matching outfits. Its very uplifting to see how many people come out and support this cause, both jumpers and people attending just for fun. Although it was a very cold winter day the plungers were all excited to jump, some even jumped more then once. We got to talk to some plungers that even said they travel to mulitple towns to take part in the plunges and support the Special Olympics.
While at the plunge Adam West was hosting and reading off information about each group that jumped, we had one of the K102 vehicles blasting our station and us interns had set up a booth for people to win prizes. Working small events like this are always fun because we really get a great chance to talk and interact one on one with K102 fans. While being an intern at K102 you get to do many fun things like promote concerts and attend smaller shows, but its working events that support great causes like the Polar Bear Plunge that are a big reason I feel so lucky to be associated with K102.
