A STUDENT WHO staged a gun attack at a school in Colorado has been found dead, apparently after turning the gun on himself, the local county sheriff has confirmed.
Two other students have been injured in the incident, one critically.
Speaking to reporters at the scene of the alert at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, just outside Denver, Sheriff Grayson Robinson said that one student had sustained serious gunshot wounds. The other student was found with a minor injury as authorities cleared the building.
The student who carried out the attack was found when police returned to the building to carry out a search. Robinson said it appeared he had shot himself.
The school was put on lockdown, as were other schools in the area, in the immediate wake of the alert.
Later, live television pictures showed orderly groups of students gathered on an athletics track on the the edge of a snow-covered field next to the school as the building was emptied.
Local authorities are expected to give a further media briefing later…
