(UPI) -- Police said they arrested a suspect in the shooting death Wednesday of a volunteer at an Atlanta-area megachurch led by TV evangelist Creflo Dollar.

The U.S. Marshal's Service announced the arrest of Floyd Palmer, 52, in Buckhead, Ga., just before 4 p.m. EDT.

Police said Palmer is a former employee of World Changers Church International in College Park, Ga., who resigned in August, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Police said the victim, Greg McDowell, 39, was transported to South Fulton Hospital in nearby East Point, Ga., where he died.

Fulton County, Ga., Police Cpl. Kay Lester Lester said it was not clear whether Palmer had fired randomly or had singled out his alleged victim, who Lester said was leading a prayer with 20 to 25 people in the chapel when the shooting occurred about 10:30 a.m.

"He went in, walked in calmly, opened fire inside of the church and left as calmly as he came," Lester said during a news conference.

Police said McDowell worked with the church's production crew and as a facilities maintenance manager.

Dollar was not present at the time of the shooting, police said.
