(NEWSER) – The former trucker who kidnapped a 5-year-old boy in Alabama is dead and the child is safe, Reutersreports. "It's all over," said an official. "The boy is OK." Jimmy Lee Dykes, 65, allegedly shot a school bus driver dead in Alabama last week and took the boy from the bus to a homemade bunker.
There he communicated with law enforcement through a pipe, making few demands and revealing no motive, officials say. During the week-long ordeal, police lowered medication and toys to the child, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. More from ABC News.
