After going through a very public divorce in 2006, Evans has grown from the experience and, in an exclusive interview with She Knows, tells anyone else who might be experiencing the same:

"I hate it when anybody has to go through that," she said. "It is a really painful thing and I would say to anyone in the middle of anything like that to just stay calm, take things one day at a time, and not look too far ahead. Eventually it's going to be okay. Surround yourself with people who love you."

Evans has definitely followed her own advice. After marrying Jay Barker in 2008, she became a family of seven-Evans' three children, and Barker's four.

Because of their similar personalities, the couple provides a very 'low-key' environment. "My personality is really low-key, and so is Jay's," explains Evans. "So we don't get uptight with anything. And I'm not going to lie, we have a lady that comes every single day to help me with laundry, grocery shopping, stuff like that. We just try to stay calm. I'm not one of those uptight, overwhelmed kind of girls."

However, with a family of nine, tension and fighting is still present. "Jay's kids fight with each other and my kids fight with each other, but there isn't a lot of crossover," she explains. "We're pretty strict parents - we don't let them fight, we don't let them talk back to us. We run as tight of a ship as we can. The dynamics of a divorce and blended families are there. My parents divorced when I was 12, so I totally understand what they are going through and what they feel and their struggles, so I try to compensate for those constantly."

When Evans isn't performing onstage or taking on her role as a mother, she loves to play sports and spend time with her dog. "I stay skinny by playing sports, mostly tennis, and I count my calories. I'm a firm believer in calorie counting. I don't think any food is off limits, but my thing is like, 'Stop eating so much!' When I cut back on eating, it works."
