Like a lot of kids
I grew up somewhere
Way out in the weeds
just a bunch of hicks
out in the stix
farm kids and hayseeds
spending all day at Lake Kegonsa
or in our neighbors field
we'd ride our bikes down to the river
hauling tackle rod and reel
That country sky was bigger
than I ever though I'd be
Whenever I forget those years
one thign still reminds me
Silos
dotting every country mile
standing single file - Oh
like they're holding up the sky
I know anywhere that I go
forever there's a countryside
I'll be right beside
Silos
Then when I hit the teenage years
I couldn't wait to get to town
I used to bug my sister
just to haul my ass around
we'd climb in to the oldsmobile
and turn on the radio
singin as loud as we can
to Jack & Diane
as down the road we'd go
There they stool like soldiers
always standin' guard
sayin' "have fun in the city boy
but don't you go too far"
Silos
Dottin' every country mile
standing single file - oh
like they're holding up the sky
I know anywhere that I go
forever there's a countryside
I'll be right beside
Silos
Now I'm livin' in the city
and I'm tryin' to find my way
when I close my eyes I see them
just like yesterday
But it don't take long to travel
to where the roads are mostly gravel
and when I do, they all say welcome home
Silos
Dottin' every country mile
standing single file - oh
like they're holding up the sky
I know anywhere that I go
forever there's a countryside
a little small town pride
We'll be right beside
Silos
Silos
