We had the huge honor of talking with Sheryl Crow! She was super nice and we had a great conversation with her. If you missed any of it, here are some of the highlights from our interview...

What made you decide to make a country album?

I really wanted to make a country record. I have told this to many people, I had big trepidations about making the crossover because I have seen other artists do that. The country fan base is so loyal and I just consider it such hallowed ground and I wanted to it the right way. I grew up really close to Nashville and my sisters have lived there for ever and my closest friends live there.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago, I had so many people from Nashville calling me and saying, “You need to come home, you need to move here, you have friends here and this is where you belong.”

I always say that the fans will decide if I belong in this format. I love my community, I love being there and I have loved making this record.

Hasn’t your music always had a country undertone?

I think if a lot of my records were released now they would belong in the country format. After I did the duet, or trio, with Loretta Lynn on the CMAs – Brad Paisley came up to me and said to me, “When are you going to come home? When are you going to make a country record? You belong in our format.”

He also told me that, “Don’t change what you do. Because what you do is important to the country format. All you need to do is turn your vocals up and write lyrics that are really concise.”

I wanted to do it the right way and I think that Darius was a good example. I have known him forever. He is just who he is.

You are from Kennett, Missouri right?

Yep, I grew up three miles from Arkansas and eight miles from Tennessee. My family still lives there and the sign outside of town says, “Hometown of Sheryl Crow.” For a long time, they had it, "Home Town” - two separate words. I kept telling my mom, “Please tell someone that is one word!”

You are one of People magazine’s “most beautiful women.” Give us your best beauty tip.

Best beauty tip – joy. The other thing is that I haven’t delved into doing anything to my face. I think if you at least keep your youthful expressions, boy that goes a long way.

She also told us about when to expect her new album and how she is supporting Angelina Jolie after her recent double mastectomy!

Talk about your ultimate "the show must go on" moment. This past weekend, during a show in South Carolina, Jake Owen had a moment he made the absolute best out of. While trying to climb up and say hello to a fan, his pants ripped! With no other option, Owen took off his shirt and tied his pants together using it.  

The worst part for him, realizing it was a bad to not be wearing any underwear!

Last week before a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, nine year-old Alayna Adams threw out the first pitch. Her toss bounced a few times before getting to home plate but she seemed to have fun. What came next will make you lose a few tears! Alayna had no idea that the cather she was throwing to was her father that was back from Afghanistan!

What an amazing video to watch to start the week. It sure puts everything else into perspective

Former NASCAR driver Dick Trickle died yesterday of an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound. The incident happened just after noon at a cemetery in Lincolnoton, North Carolina. Many who knew Trickle say that he had been sick for a while and also depressed.

Lincolnton, NC - Retired race car driver Richard "Dick" Trickle, 71, died today from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.

The incident occurred at 12:02 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Highway 150 East in Boger City.

The Lincoln County Communications Center received a call apparently from the victim that "there would be a dead body and it would be his ". Communications Center workers tried to place a return call to the number but did not get an answer.

The first emergency units arriving on the scene located the body lying near the victim's pickup truck.

Trickle was a Lincoln County resident and had lived here since the early 1990's.
